About me – groomer Jarmila Podhorská

My name is Jarmila Podhorská and I am a trained hairdresser with further studies in business. Even as a little girl my love for animals was so great that I combined two things I love, enjoy and am good at, and started doing grooming.

In the Czech Republic we are a little behind in this field. In the world of grooming, groomers practise dog grooming as a profession, just as you study to become a hairdresser here – there are schools for it, which unfortunately we do not have. Grooming falls under unregulated trades and can be done without formal training, so it is entirely up to each person how much they keep learning and how much effort they put into their work.

It is very important to keep moving forward, to attend seminars and to learn from more experienced colleagues both at home and abroad. I am not the type to stand still, so I try to give my work the very best I can and I am constantly learning and improving.

I have been doing grooming since 2016, and in 2025 my own salon, Dog Soul, became a reality.
